Herdade Paço do Conde

The history of this estate dates back to the end of the century XIV.  For more than three centuries, Herdade Paço do Conde has been owned by the Castelo Branco family. The origin of one of the oldest agricultural companies in the country, founded in 1928 under the name of the Agricultural Society Paço do Conde, is secured today with the management of the current owners, José António Ferrão Castelo Branco, Luís Miguel Ferrão Castelo Branco and Maria Luísa Castelo Branco Schmidt, grandchildren of the founder. This new generation is currently responsible for the exploitation of some 3,000 hectares of agricultural area on the banks of the Guadiana river, Baixo Alentejo, southern Portugal.

Olive oil is born of the Earth.

Every one of the bottles of olive oil from Paço do Conde reflects a tradition of quality and the love and respect with which we work the land.

Each olive variety produces an oil which expresses the superior quality and the individuality of Paço do Conde in its own unique way.

Sustainable Wines & Biodiversity

At Herdade Paço do Conde diversity is a reality. In addition to the vineyard (210 ha) and olive grove (1,700 ha), the estate extends to fields of wheat, sunflower, corn, vegetables and sown and natural pastures.

All production is done in the integrated production system, complying with the most stringent European environmental production standards. The “environmentally friendly” philosophy, always present in production, avoids unnecessary applications of pesticides and fertilizers. Cultural diversity enables the coexistence of traditional fauna and flora.

This passion for the land is shared in every bottle of wine and olive oil produced by Herdade Paço do Conde.
