The story of Quintas de Melgaço begins with one man’s vision — Amadeu Abílio Lopes. In the mid-20th century, he left Portugal for Brazil, where determination and hard work shaped a successful career. Yet success abroad never dulled his connection to home.
When he returned to Melgaço, Portugal’s northernmost wine region, he saw more than vineyards. He saw opportunity — to unite local growers and bring the Alvarinho grape to the world.

Today, Quintas de Melgaço brings together more than 530 small and medium-sized producers. Each vineyard contributes its voice to a collective identity — one that balances individuality with shared purpose.
