Chapeleiro

  • Region: Vinho Verde (Tâmega River Valley)
  • Founded: 2008
  • Founder: Carlos Fernandes
  • Farming: Sustainable & low-intervention
  • Style: Fresh, expressive, naturally driven wines

The name Chapeleiro — meaning “Hatter” — honors the legacy of founder Carlos Fernandes’ grandfather, Belmiro, affectionately known as the “Chapeleiro” in the village of Vilarelho, just east of Porto.

This tribute to family roots continues to guide the estate today, shaping wines that are honest, expressive, and deeply connected to place.

From Family Heritage to Modern Craft

In 2008, Carlos and his family restored their ancestral farmhouse and planted their first vineyard, guided by respect for the land’s natural morphology and organic potential.

With excellent sun exposure and the moderating influence of the Tâmega River, the vineyards thrive under a philosophy of sustained and responsible viticulture, producing grapes of balance, energy, and clarity.

Sustainable & Natural Winemaking
