Quinta do Pôpa
The history of this Quinta comes from the name that gives it life. PÔPA was the nickname of Francisco Ferreira, bastard of a great Douro wine producer with his maid. He lived his life without being recognized as a son and brother. Profiled by DOURO and his people, he worked in the vineyard and in the fruit he gave to those who neglected him, while he, his wife and children went hungry. Well, life goes around ... and this Quinta is proof that DREAMS rules life, ours and the generations that follow us.
Funded in 2003, and located in the heart of the Douro valley, in the hot and dry Cima- Corgo sub-region, Quinta do Pôpa is product of lifelong dreams, perseverance, and the dedication of a father who placed both his children’s feet on the Douro, keen to involve them in a desire to produce excellent wines under Pôpa’s signature. The patriarch showed his children the magic that this terroir held, either through the production of fine wines, or by the Douro’s natural beauty and tradition.
